Joseph (Max) Cirtwill (MASc Candidate)Max graduated from
McMaster University's Mechanical Engineering and Management degree
program in 2015. He is currently conducting research on the onset of
thermoacoustic instabilities in aeronautical gas turbine engines. This
research uses high speed optical diagnostics and several analytic
techniques borrowed from dynamical systems and complex systems theory
to determine causal relationships between the pressure fluctuations and
heat release distribution within the turbine combustor at the onset of
instability. This research aims to improve the engine design process.
