Combustion Links

The Combustion Institute: The Combustion Institute is an educational non-profit, international, scientific society whose purpose is to promote and disseminate research in combustion science. The main activity of The Combustion Institute is the International Symposium on Combustion that is the principal forum for presenting and integrating combustion research results. Institute’s monthly journal, Combustion and Flame, is the premier journal in the field of combustion.

The 31st International Symposium on Combustion The 2006 symposium was hosted by the University of Heidelberg, Germany, August 6-11, 2006.

Canadian Section Meeting 2007  The 2007 CI/CS Spring Technical Meeting is an opportunity to meet academic and industrial combustion experts from across Canada as well as international researchers in combustion. Technical papers are solicited on all aspects of combustion. It will be hosted by University of Alberta, May 13-16, 2007.

2007 European Combustion Meeting: Chania, Crete, Greece, April 11-13, 2007.

Fifth International Mediterranean Combustion Symposium Monastir, Tunisia, September 9-13, 2007.

Sixth Asia-Pacific Conference on Combustion Nagoya, Japan, May 20-23, 2007.

NRC Combustion Laboratory:  (my former "home") is the premier combustion research laboratory in Canada. Key capabilities include:

  • fundamental flame research including laminar flames, soot formation, turbulent pre-mixed combustion and turbulent diffusion flames
  • optical combustion diagnostics for applications to soot volume fraction, flame temperature and species, as well as spray analysis
  • engine combustion and emissions studies that focus on diesel engines, gasoline direct injection engines and fuel technology
  • modeling combustion processes to improve the understanding of sprays, radiation and laminar flames
  • high precision temperature measurement techniques including CARS (coherent anti-Stokes Raman spectroscopy)
