  • Assistant Professor: METU, Turkey (1977-1981)

  • Professor: Institute for Aerospace Studies, U of Toronto (since 2001)

Current Research Interests:

  • Biofuels for aviation and ground transportation,
  • Soot formation at high pressures, and at zero gravity,
  • Dynamics and structure of lean-premixed turbulent flames,
  • Soot and combustion diagnostics, and
  • Combustion in gas turbines

Publications:

  • Dr. Gülder is the author and co-author of more than two hundred fifty papers on laminar and turbulent premixed combustion, soot formation, combustion in gas turbines and IC engines, sprays, fuel technology, and combustion diagnostics. He has three patents on soot diagnostics.

Other Professional and Scholarly Activities:

  • He served on the editorial boards of Combustion and Flame, International Journal of Engine Research, and International Journal of Thermal Sciences.
  • He served on the Board of Directors of the Combustion Institute and he was the Chair of the Canadian Section of the Combustion Institute from 1991 to 2001.
  • Professional society memberships include the Combustion Institute, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.

Awards:

  • His awards include NRC Outstanding Achievement Award in support of NRC research objectives (1996), and NRC Scientific Staff Performance Award (1993).

  • Fellow of The Combustion Institute
