    ASSIGNMENTS

Each team will receive a collective mark for each assignment. In addition, the coordinator of the assignment will also receive the same mark as his or her individual assignment mark. Typically, the student responsible for Operations will coordinate the Operations assignments (A1, A1B), the Systems student will coordinate the Systems assignments (A2, A2B), etc.

One assignment per team is required every week and should be handed in in triplicate (3 copies). It will be marked by the relevant MDR lecturer, the course coordinator, and the teaching assistant. Assignments should be typed and submitted the following week.

The text portion of the assignment must not exceed 10 pages. There is no limitation on figures, tables, calculations or programs. Reduced sized figures may be inserted in the text. Please place full page figures in a figures section at the end of the text portion. Follow the report guidelines given below and include all your references and a bibliography. Marks will be deducted for oversized texts.

    ORAL PRESENTATIONS

Each member of the team will make part of either the SDR or PDR presentations. Marks will be assigned to the presenter as follows:

Overall perspective (20) Motivation and relationship to other areas detailed.

Quality of overheads (15) This will assess the preparation of presentation materials. Are they easily visible and uncluttered? Are there an adequate number to convey the technical information?

Background material (20) Is there sufficient detail? Did it address the design issues in a balanced way?

Delivery (15) Was the speaker clear, audible and organized in the delivery?

Understanding (30) Was the topic and related material understood? Were all questions answered?

    CLASS PARTICIPATION

Each student will receive individual marks in this category. Marks will be allotted for general participation: attendance, participation in the workshops, and questions during student presentations.
